Reggae Covers: The Silvertones – Bluebirds Flying Over (Vera Lynn/Kent & Burton)

Posted on

Kingston, Jamaica’s The Silvertones render here a version of Vera Lynn’s 1942 hit ‘(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover.’  Only actually kinda’ tangentially associated with the original by use of common or recognizable phrasings, the thematics become those of a future world of happiness and prosperity in Jamaica, common themes the world over let alone in reggae.

There will be bluebirds flying over,
over the white sand and the mountain,
In Jamaica, just you wait
Just you wait and see.
