Brooks & Dunn – Neon Moon

Posted on Updated on

Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn‘s collaboration has produced some of the most memorable country music of the last twenty years. While most of their hits inhabited a certain ‘boot-scootable’ space in the genre, this ballad from their debut album ‘Brand New Man‘ is thoughtful, poetic, soulfully rendered…somehow perfectly, universally resonant.

The jukebox plays on, drink by drink
And the words of every sad song
Seem to say what I think
And it’s hurt inside of me ain’t never gonna end

Oh, but I’ll be alright as long as there’s light
From a neon moon

Oh, if you lose your one and only
There’s always room here for the lonely
To watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams of a neon moon
